UANA Welfare Fund

This program was initiated in year 2008 and will be operational in Jan 2009. Noble effort under this initiative is to collect funds to support Projects back home in Uttarakhand. UANA members voluntarily donate a small amount, as low as $20 every month, to UANA Welfare Fund. Initial milestone is to have 25 volunteer donors to generate $500 a month/ $6,000 a year, which definitely would boost our plans for the welfare projects back home.

This program is championed by UANA Member Ashish Panwar and has full hearted support by Uttarakhand Association of North America (UANA) officials/members.

Highlights of this program are:

Ø      UANA Members donate a minimum of $20 per month towards the welfare fund for Uttarakhand. To continue the monthly donations shall totally be at the will of the individuals. The individuals can also decide to make the donation for the whole year collectively instead of monthly. There is no limit on donation though – the more the better. An yearly statement will be sent to the donors at the end of the calendar year for the contributions made throughout the year.

Ø      UANA will maintain a separate account has been set-up for this project and the funds will be used exclusively for welfare projects in Uttarakhand.

Ø      A working committee of five (5) people has been set up that will have the oversight of the bank account and shall manage it with full transparency. The committee will actively be directed towards any project that it plans on working until its completion.  The working committee also acquires absolute authority to resolve any conflict of interest with any authority in regard to this unpretentious effort. In all instances, the working committee shall particularize all the details of any project that it plans on working and shall also come up with an appropriate plan of action. Final decision on all projects will also be taken by the working committee.

Ø      The members of the interim working committee include: Ms. Pushp Kumar (MA), Mr. Devesh Nautiyal (NJ), Mr. Manoj Kholia (MO), Ms. Ruchika Rawat (CA) and Mr. Ashish Panwar (NY).

Ø      Besides overseeing the funds and the projects, the working committee will also prepare a report at the end of the year, which will include the details of the accounts, the initiatives undertaken and how the money was spent. This report will be posted on the website for UANA.
